This is the last chance to apply for Enova support for energy mapping in commercial buildings. The scheme will be discontinued after this date.
Enova has decided to end its support scheme for energy audits in commercial buildings. The last application deadline is set for 21 May 2026 at 12:00 . For owners and tenants of commercial buildings who have not yet completed a structured energy audit, this is a unique opportunity that should not be wasted.
Enova justifies the discontinuation by saying that the new energy labelling scheme and the revised energy mapping regulations now provide building owners with a clearer and more standardized basis for assessing energy measures. Once this framework is in place, the need for separate state support for the mapping has been reduced. The logic is that the market itself will bear this cost to a greater extent in the future.
For the business community, this means that the window for covering up to 50 percent of the survey costs is about to close for good.
The energy assessment should provide a fact-based overview of the building's current energy status and potential for improvement. The report that is prepared serves as a concrete decision-making basis with recommended measures in prioritized order, cost estimates, profitability assessments and financing models.
The survey may include measures within ventilation and thermal systems, energy production such as solar cells and heat pumps, storage solutions, and opportunities to reduce electrical power peaks. The owner and tenant decide the scope themselves.
After 21 May 2026, there will no longer be a dedicated government support scheme for energy audits in commercial buildings. The audits can of course still be carried out, but without subsidies. For buildings with high energy consumption and high audit costs, this can represent a significant additional cost.
It is important to note that Enova's investment support for improving the energy condition of commercial buildings is still active. However, it requires that the building is energy-labeled, and a prior energy survey will provide a much stronger basis for application. The investment support can cover up to 25 percent of approved costs, and a maximum of NOK 10 million, for measures that reduce the estimated delivered energy by at least 20 percent.
To meet the application deadline of May 21, the process should be started now. Energihuset assists in assessing which buildings have the greatest potential, collects the necessary documentation, and prepares a competitive application. The ranking of applications is based on the amount of support applied for, weighted against typical annual energy demand. A low amount applied for compared to high energy consumption gives the best chance in the competition.
